By spreading knowledge and collaborating within the City of Gothenburg and with other actors, we increase understanding of individuals' needs and design interventions that make a real difference.
With 6,200 dedicated employees, we are Sweden's largest support administration for people with disabilities. We work within housing with special services, daily activities, employment, housing support, personal assistance, children's and short-term housing, respite care, as well as support and guidance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Do you want a meaningful job where you make a difference for children and young people with disabilities? As a substitute within respite care and guidance, you temporarily take over the care from guardians for a child or young person with a disability. The intervention is of great importance to the families and requires that you have experience and knowledge of disabilities. The work within respite care involves providing individually tailored support, which may include personal hygiene, cooking, cleaning, and carrying out activities. The work takes place in the child's or young person's home and is adapted to individual needs.
Working as a guide means that you accompany a person on activities outside the home, but often in the individual's local environment. As a guide, you enable the individual to participate in community life and break the isolation that can result from a disability. As a guide, you can engage in activities such as shopping, going for walks, going to the movies, bowling, swimming, attending sports events, or going out in town.
Many of the children and young people within both respite care and guidance have needs for clear routines, structure, and adapted communication, which means that you can use methods such as low-arousal responses (LAB) and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC). Since the assignments often involve minors, guardians work under "Decision on self-care" from healthcare, which means that guardians bear the medical responsibility while you as a substitute are responsible for care.
Working hours vary depending on the families' needs and can be scheduled for weekdays, evenings, weekends, and nights. QUALIFICATIONS
To work as a substitute within support for people with disabilities, you must be at least 18 years old, in accordance with the regulations regarding minors' working environment (AFS 2023:2). It is advantageous if you have previous experience working in the field of support for people with disabilities or in care. If you do not meet the passing grade in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1, you may be offered a language test via EducateIt.
We consider it advantageous if you have completed or are currently pursuing education in the field, such as support assistant, nursing assistant, or an ongoing or completed academic education in healthcare, behavioral science, or educational training.
In addition, we would like you to have experience/knowledge of low-arousal responses (LAB), alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), challenging behaviors, and self-harming behaviors.
As a substitute within support for people with disabilities, you focus on the individual, have a pedagogical approach, and a genuine interest in people with different types of disabilities. It is important that you are responsive to the individual's needs to adapt your responses in different situations. For us, it is desirable that you are responsible and have a flexible approach. It is also very important that you are stable and secure as a person.
